National Geographic Kids is an educational website that teaches children about plants, animals, locations, history, and the outer space. The target age group is 6 to 14 years old. In terms of quality, the voice acting is clear and doesn’t compete against the ambient sounds and music of its videos. The user interface is simple but understandable for children. The learning videos are short and concise. While not exhaustive in terms of information, they can serve as a means to get children hooked and yearn for more knowledge.
The shorts use cartoon animals as mascots, but are not the focus of the lessons so no role models are really here to be found. As the site is primarily geared towards children, the likelihood of any taboos or non-family friendly material to be present is very low. While there is a link to an online shop, the only ads present are those related to other articles found on the site. Privacy and safety of the user are guaranteed. Exploring the site yourself is quick and easy to do.
